Stone Worktop Faqs
About our materials
-
At GoForGranite we offer a wide selection of high quality materials including granite, quartz, marble, ceramic, and various natural stones for all your custom kitchen worktop, countertops and fireplace hearth needs.
-
Granite is a natural stone with unique patterns that is heat-resistant but requires periodic sealing. Quartz is an engineered stone (93-95% natural quartz mixed with resins) that is non-porous, maintenance-free, and offers more consistent patterns and colors.
-
Marble is softer and more porous than granite or quartz, making it more susceptible to scratches, stains, and etching from acidic substances. While beautiful, marble requires more maintenance and care than other stone options.
-
Ceramic worktops are made from natural clay materials and fired at high temperatures. They're extremely durable, heat-resistant, scratch-resistant, and non-porous. They tend to be thinner than traditional stone while maintaining excellent strength.

Pricing and Quotations
-
Yes, at GoForGranite we provide free, no-obligation quotes. We can prepare initial estimates based on approximate measurements, with final quotes requiring precise measurements from our professional templaters.
-
Pricing is based on several factors: material type, thickness, total square footage, edge profile complexity, number of cutouts (for sinks, hobs, etc.), and installation requirements.
-
We typically require a 50% deposit to begin the templating and fabrication process, with the remaining balance due prior to installation.
Design and Customisation
-
We offer numerous edge profile options including straight, beveled, bullnose, ogee. Each profile can dramatically change the look and feel of your worktop and our team will be pleased to advise on the most suitable profile to compliment your projects style.
-
Yes, we can create worktops with integrated (undermount) sinks for a seamless look, as well as accommodate any type of sink installation including top-mount and farmhouse styles.
-
Absolutely. We specialise in custom fabrication and can create fire hearths precisely measured to fit your fireplace dimensions and design requirements.
Installation Process
-
Our standard timeline is 7-10 business days from templating to installation, depending on material availability and project complexity. Custom or exotic materials may require additional time.
-
We use traditional measurements to create precise templates with decades of experience. Our professional templaters visit your home after your cabinets are installed to take exact measurements. From there digital templates are created for our state-of-the-art CNC machining to ensure millimetre perfect fabrication.
-
Yes, we frequently install new stone worktops on existing cabinets and our templaters will verify that your cabinets can properly support the weight of stone worktops.
Maintenance and Care
-
Daily cleaning requires only warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners. Specific care instructions can be provided based on your chosen material.
-
Minor chips and scratches can often be repaired. The repairability depends on the material type and extent of damage. Our team can assess damage and recommend appropriate repairs.
-
Heat resistance varies by material. Granite and ceramic have excellent heat resistance. Quartz can withstand moderate heat but can be damaged by sudden temperature changes so we always recommend using trivets or hot pads regardless of material.
Special Considerations
-
Yes, some materials, particularly granite and certain ceramics, are suitable for outdoor use. We can advise on the best outdoor-friendly options that will withstand weather conditions depending on your outdoor kitchen projects requirements.
-
Yes, we can source materials from the same slab or batch for projects requiring multiple pieces to ensure consistent patterns and coloration throughout your home.

We'll assess access during the initial site visit and consult with you on what is needed to ensure your installation is handle perfectly from start to finish.
